Grounded in Positive Psychology, and utilising elements of Non-violent Communication and the Sailboat Metaphor (created by Dr Hugo Alberts), in this masterclass, we provide a scientific approach to maximising strength.
At the core of well-being lies the relationship that people have with themselves.
In this masterclass, we focus on several skills and abilities that are at the core of optimal strength use. More specifically, we address the extent to which one devotes attention to their strengths and the beliefs they hold about their strengths. We will also address the motivation a person has for nurturing and using their strengths and, how they prevent the underuse or overuse of their strengths.
This masterclass will guide and support you to successfully build a healthy relationship with your strength, by increasing self-awareness, self-regulation and self-compassion.

Content
One day Masterclass, divided in six sessions, covering theory, discussion, and offering practical tools. This masterclass includes:
- Introduction - an in-depth understanding of the field of positive psychology providing a foundation for strength-based development.
- Understanding Strength - deep insight into the concept of strengths, their key ingredients, and the interplay between strength, weakness, and learned behaviour.
- Strength Awareness - how to use a diverse range of techniques to structurally increase awareness of personal strengths.
- Strength Mindset - learn the impact of beliefs on strengths.
- Benefits of Strength - discover the widespread benefits of strength and become able to assess and articulate how strength can impact quality of life.
- Strength Development – introducing strength regulation and the pitfalls of underuse, misuse, and overuse of strengths. Learn to effectively develop strengths to achieve lasting change.
Facilitator
Camelia Petrus brings a wealth of tools, experience, and perspective to her work in Industrial Organisational Psychology, Leadership, Workplace Behaviour, Non-Violent Communication and Psychology of Wellbeing.
Camelia’s interests are in employee wellbeing and engagement, leadership key competences and workplace behaviour. She provides employers with psychometric insights in the areas of Leadership Development, Workplace Behaviour, Recruitment, Sales and Customer Service, Client Relationship, Workplace Emotional Climate, and trains HR professionals in test interpretation.
She is a member of NZ Positive Psychology Association, member of Change Management Institute NZ and partner with OPRA Psychology Group Wellington and the Regional Business Partners Network.
She leads work with individuals and organisations in NZ.
