How the Leadership Library fits with Lead Yourself First

The Leadership Library is designed to support and extend Lead Yourself First. It is not an alternative to the programme, and it does not replace the foundational work of developing self-leadership under pressure. Instead, it provides ongoing learning and reinforcement for those who want to deepen and sustain the capabilities introduced there.

While Lead Yourself First is a structured journey that builds core self-leadership capacity, the Leadership Library offers continued access to focused resources that address specific challenges, contexts, and situations as they arise in professional life.

Together, they form a coherent ecosystem:

  • Lead Yourself First builds core capacity;
  • the Leadership Library sustains and deepens it through ongoing, situational learning.
For those new to this work, Lead Yourself First is the recommended starting point.

Capability areas supported in the Leadership Library

Self-Leadership Under Pressure

Develop the ability to regulate attention, emotions, and behaviour when demands are high. This area supports clarity, composure, and deliberate action in complex and fast-moving situations.

Ethical Decision-Making

Strengthen decision-making when values, consequences, and responsibilities collide. This area focuses on making choices that remain ethical and consistent under real-world pressure.

Accountability & Responsibility

Build the capacity to take ownership of choices, impact, and outcomes. This area supports responsible action, follow-through, and clarity around role and responsibility.

Culture-Shaping Behaviour

Understand how everyday behaviour shapes trust, norms, and culture. This area focuses on the individual contribution to culture through actions, communication, and decisions.

How members use the Leadership Library

The Leadership Library is designed to be used flexibly, in response to real situations rather than as a linear programme. Members dip in when a particular challenge arises and return as their role, responsibilities, or context evolves.

When navigating pressure

 - to regain clarity, regulate responses, and think deliberately

When facing decisions

 - to reflect, assess options, and act responsibly

When shaping culture

 - to align behaviour, communication, and values in practice

There is no required pace or sequence.

The Library supports ongoing development as part of professional life, not as an additional burden.

Most resources are designed to be used in short, focused sessions, as and when they are relevant.

Access and membership

Membership in the Leadership Library provides ongoing access to a growing collection of psychologically grounded learning resources focused on self-leadership, ethical decision-making, accountability, and culture-shaping behaviour.
